Capsicum Tovarii is a very rare wild species, The plant can reach a height up to 120 cm The stems are very thin and have very long side shoots. It has bell-shaped flowers that are slightly yellow or yellow violet shades with green dots. The dark green leaves are about 30 - 60 mm long and 10-20 mm wide. The pods are extremely small being 10mm in diameter and turn from green to red.It is named after Oscar Tovar who first discovered the plant in on 14 April 1954 in the Rio Mantaro basin in south-central Peru and the province of Huancavelica Andahuaylas in the Andes Mountains of Peru, Genetically part of taxa including Capsicum pubescens. and is known as ' Mukuru' or Mucuru-uchu.
